The Bluefin fishing out of Morehead City/Atlantic Beach has been pretty non-existent lately. No word of any fish that have been landed in the last month. There have been some Wahoo and Blackfin lingering around areas like the Big Rock on out towards the Swansboro hole. Winter trolling is generally slow, but there are still fish to be caught. Most of our Flounder are offshore right now, and the only way you are going to find them will be to head on out and try some of the deeper artificial reefs. Even if you do so, there are no guarantees.

Speckled Trout is closed due to the recent losses of fish from the extreme cold snap. If you do catch a trout accidently and it has a tag in it, report all tag information to the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries. There are large herds of both Red Drum and Black Drum around the suds of our beachfront. From Fort Macon all the way to Bogue Inlet there are schools of Drum. It's best to sight fish for them on calm, clear, windless days. Grouper and Triggerfish are still available to be caught very well in the offshore depths.

As Always,
